So, after trying lots of different cabinet sizes in your design, there’s still 6”, 7” or 9” of empty space left over. This could happen with either base or wall cabinets, since a 12” width is IKEA’s smallest. Why lose all that storage space?
Most folks cover this perfectly usable space with fillers or panels.
The only restriction is that only 6” can be used since besides a 12” standard door the only remaining size available is 6”. The 6” door that we’re referring to isn’t standard, but is found by purchasing the door pack for a 30” cooktop cabinet. This pack includes one 6×30 drawer front and two 24”x 12” doors. 6×30 drawer front is your new door.
Part two is to purchase a standard 12” wide base or wall cabinet and cut the horizontal pieces to 6”. Or, that the outside measurements of the cabinet are 6”.
The completed 6” cabinet is ideal for trays, cooking sheets and cutting boards.
