We Have Experience Designing With IKEA

Our certified designers can plan with any materials, but we specialize in designing custom kitchens using IKEA products. Although we are a third-party designer, we can upload the design to the IKEA online planner and make ordering from IKEA easy. Customers often find working with us easier than working with IKEA.

We used IKD for a kitchen remodel in our newly purchased home, and I would highly recommend them. If you are considering IKEA cabinets and Semihandmade Door Fronts (which you should!), working with IKD is a definite must. We began working with IKD shortly after completing our measurements, and the process was very straightforward efficient. Other than some slight changes due to a measuring mistake (on our end, not theirs), our first rendering was nearly perfect (both aesthetically and functionally). In addition to having a designer's eye on your project, it makes ordering from IKEA and Semihandmade go much faster.

Probably the best part from my perspective is they provides a complete list of parts to order, so I simply took the list to IKEA and ordered the parts.”

We were in the process of building a two-story, 641 sq. ft. guest house on our property and decided we need help designing our kitchen. Our space was very limited as we had 14 linear feet to include a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, sink, microwave, pantry and broom closet. We wanted to go with IKEA cabinets because of the quality of their Sektion line and the nice features like under-counter lights and drawer lights, soft close, etc. I started playing around with IKEA's kitchen planner, but the more I designed, the more questions I had. I did a little research on the internet and found IKD. For a very nominal price they took the whole design process off my hands. Not only do they know IKEA cabinets, but they know the ergonomics of kitchen design, and saved us money by not buying the wrong appliances. For example, they suggested an 18

After looking at multiple local cabinet shops, we decided to do an IKEA kitchen both for cost and because too many choices is not a good thing for us. We were looking for style, quality and a kitchen that worked. Once we decided on IKEA, we spent a fair amount of time in the showroom, but were stymied by the IKEA planning software. We realized after a few weeks that we were never going to get a kitchen designed if we kept banging our heads again that particular wall. I realized there must be someone out there who had made a business of doing what IKEA was doing poorly. I wanted someone who designed 50 IKEA kitchens a month, who knew exactly how it all fit together and had made all the mistakes so I didn’t have to. After some Googling, I found IKD and was sold. We bought their multiple-iteration package because I knew it would save us money in the end by keeping us from making design mistakes. It was well worth it. Ana was helpful. The process was painless as it could be. I sent in measurements and got back a basic layout. Even that was hugely helpful as I had no idea what the baseline presumptions about a kitchen design were. How far apart should things be, how close? How many shelves? How deep? With IKD they knew all that stuff so I could just tweak it until it looked right. Ana was very quick to respond, often the same day. We probably went through three major revisions and another six tiny ones. It’s wasn’t perfect. We missed the IKEA sale because they couldn’t get the design turned around fast enough. Though in the end it was good because we realized we wanted to go with non-IKEA fronts (shout out to Kokeena in Portland) and if we’d made the sale we wouldn’t have been able to do that. The process between IKD and Kokeena was totally seamless and beautiful. One glitch was that when the order went through it included basic doors, which we didn’t need because we were using Kokeena doors and drawer fronts. Unfortunately we didn’t notice that. Further unfortunately our contractor didn’t realize he wasn’t supposed to use them, so he unpacked and started screwing them on before we realized what had happened. We were able to return about half of them. The rest became new shelves in a very old linen closet. But even with that added expensive, the savings over using a custom cabinet shop, or trying to do it (and having to re-do it multiple times) ourselves was significant. All told, I highly recommend IKD. Having never designed a kitchen, it was worth its weight in gold to have their expertise. And we ended up with a lovely kitchen.

We had a great experience working with Florence and the IKD team to design our new IKEA kitchen. Unsure of where to start and overwhelmed by all of the possibilities that IKEA offers, we knew we wanted to work with professionals to design our kitchen vs. trying to figure it out ourselves. Florence was able to take my design vision and Pinterest inspiration and turn it into exactly what we wanted. She was invaluable with laying things out so that little things like cabinet trim, doors having clearance to open, etc. were considered and accounted for. These were things I definitely wouldn't have thought about if I had been putting the design together! If you are planning to do an Ikea kitchen I cannot recommend using IKD enough!

IKD is much cheaper than alternative design companies. We charge $445 for kitchen designs and $395 for other room designs, including two revisions. Our IKEA design plans match an IKEA budget, and our customers feel their finished product is worth the investment.

I joined Houzz just so I could leave a review for this awesome company! My husband and I built our own home, acting as the general contractors. We were very nervous about using Ikea cabinets because we had read horror stories about Ikea's home design software. The tipping point in our decision was the reviews we read about Inspired Kitchen Design. Everything positive I read about them is completely accurate. They were fast, extremely affordable, and did amazing work. They also designed all the bathroom cabinets in our house and even designed mudroom cabinetry for us at no additional charge. Everyone we worked with at IKD was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to make changes when needed. My husband built and installed every cabinet with no problems. Even the salespeople at Ikea were impressed with IKD's product/pull list. IKD handles that very complex process for you, so you don't have to worry about any missing parts. A local designer probably would have charged 5 times as much to design our kitchen alone, with the downside of likely having never, if rarely, worked with Ikea products. I highly recommend them and I truly don't think we could have pulled off our kitchen without them! (Please note in photo: We haven't finished the crown molding or finish pieces underneath our cabinets. Not IKD issue -- we just have a lot to do!)

Hands down, the best experience I've had with a designer ever. We used IKD to design a complete kitchen overhaul. We bought a fixer upper in 2018 and knew that the kitchen had to go. It was small, dark, made zero sense regarding the lay out, and we both couldn't work in there without constantly bumping into each other. For two people who love to cook, this was not an ideal setup. Hence the need for IKD. I researched several companies online and kept coming back to this one. I even had two interior designers come to my house and I couldn't believe the fees the quoted me. When we bought our 1975 MCM ranch four years ago, the kitchen was a very high priority on our to do list, however we had quite a few other projects to tackle before we could design our dream kitchen. We're grateful for the time we lived in the house and used the outdated kitchen, because it gave us the chance to really figure out what we needed to meet our kitchen needs. We knew that we definitely needed more storage and drawers as well as space. Being able to see it in a 3D format and to pick and choose what drawers and cabinets was a game changer for us. They really streamlined the process of kitchen design and planning. Being able to take the list to Ikea and mark it all off as we loaded up the carts was fun for us, as well! We went with the Ringhult high gloss white cabinets/drawers and the drawer pulls are the Billsbro handles. Our contractor raved that the design plans included all specs and measurements. He said that he would be recommending the company as well!

We communicate primarily through e-mail, allowing our customers to reach out or respond to us when it’s convenient for them. Our typical turnaround time for designs is three days, and we guide our customers through measuring, photographing, and filling out the online design survey form.

They even provided blueprints for my under and in cabinet lighting. My kitchen turned out perfect! I would use IKD again for sure. They do other rooms besides kitchens and I'm considering using them for our master bedroom closet some day. I highly recommend Inspired Kitchen Design to everyone I talk to who is interested in redoing their kitchens! They make the whole design process as easy and efficient as possible! Our home was built in 1911 and we were wanting to keep as much of the character of the space as possible, while completely refreshing and updating it. That meant there were some quirks to work around! What we ended up with was a truly beautiful and modern, yet classic, kitchen that is an absolute joy and pleasure to be in. I would use IKD again in a heartbeat if and when I need to do another kitchen, mudroom, or office etc. The pain and suffering that they helped me avoid in trying to do this myself are beyond measure! I am sharing the before and afters. We went with a two-tone kitchen in order to bring light into the space but also allow a visual flow from the light kitchen to the dark dining room. It is hard to capture in photos how well this works but it has been very pleasing from every angle and we continue to love our kitchen daily!
